Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday everyone!

An update . . . Clucky came home last week after spending 26 days in the NICU.  He is doing great!  He's still pretty tiny weighing only 4 lbs. 3 oz.

Last weekend was the Minnesota Alpaca Expo.  This year we did not show any of our animals.  We thought about showing Fenway, but with me due 3 weeks after the expo we decided to sit this year out.  Thank goodness we did with the baby coming 7 weeks early, and Fenway caught a parasite bug the week of the expo and wasn't doing so hot.  Thankfully, Fenway has recovered nicely.

I had entered three items in the Fiber Arts competition at the Expo and won three first place ribbons!  I made a hat, a scarf, and a stuffed alpaca that we have named "Sven".
Sven - 1st place at the Expo
Sven is crocheted out of 100% alpaca yarn and stuffed with alpaca seconds from the alpacas in our herd.  I haven't decided if I am going to offer Sven for sale.  At this point, probably not, since he is quite a bit of work, and I now find myself with even less time to do things!

The hat and scarf will most likely be offered at some point in our Etsy shop as made to order items.

So cute!
This winter I also tried my hand at making a couple of hats with alpacas on them.  I like the prototypes - the beige and orange hat for Brian, and the multicolored one for me.  These may become offerings in the Etsy shop as well.

Hey there!

Wow!  So it has been quite awhile since I last posted!  I have tons of things I want to write about, just not enough time to do them in.

So what have we been up to since January . . .

Well, our little alpaca, Fenway, has been weaned and is growing bigger each and every week.  We are not showing him this spring at the Minnesota Alpaca Expo (in two weeks) due to other obligations, but we plan on showing him next year for sure, and maybe this fall.  I do have a few of my crocheted items entered in the fiber arts contest at the Expo though.  We'll let you know how I do.

Shearing is just around the corner.  We will probably be shearing in about a month or so.

Bella is due with her cria in August.  Bosox will be getting bred sometime in the next few months for a cria in 2013.

The biggest news is that we had a baby (a real human baby) two weeks ago!  We had him 7 weeks early!  He is currently in the NICU, but is doing awesome.  Hopefully he'll be home in a couple weeks.

So if I'm a little lax on blogging for a few more months, I hope you'll understand why.  I do have some neat blog post ideas about washing fiber and dyeing fiber with Kool-Aid, but they will have to wait until later.
